The Humble High Achiever - Paul Donaldson
Mar 25, 2023 Season 1 Episode 12

Paul Donaldson fits a lot into his life and is the epitome of what it means to be curious & optimistic. He is borderline obsessed with exploring as many things in life as possible while also still working hard which, in his case, is in very high level jobs. However, one of his best traits is that he has no interest in having a 'bucket list' to tick off later on in life as his mantra is say yes and do it now.

Our regular listeners will know that we absolutely love that !!

Paul is one of the most capable people we have ever met and holds his own around anyone regardless who they are with a real understated yet commanding presence. He has the ability to converse with Secretaries of State in the same day as fishing or surfing with his mates or kids as he loves nothing more than being with his family and many friends.

He was a high achiever as a teenager. He did well at school, worked his way onto an AFL list at Collingwood and performed at a state level for swimming. He was the guy every bloke wanted to be friends with and the girls wanted to be with!

A few years after finishing high school, he finally decided to properly focus on his Uni degree with a fierce focus on his career around the corner. Unsurprisingly, he subsequently ended up with the highest mark in the history of Melbourne University.

After landing senior management level job's in Marketing for Cadbury's and CUB, Paul and his family moved to New York for an amazing  job opportunity as 'Head of Global Strategy' for the biggest beer company in the world. He had worked his entire life for such an opportunity so needless to say they were incredibly excited. This episode explores what it's like to be in such a role and also what it was like being there during the initial outbreak of Covid where they were burying bodies in Central Park, through to two elections around the madness of Donald Trump was President.

Paul's humbleness is second to none as are his capabilities in life and we were very lucky to have a few hours with him and his family in their home. Enjoy !
