Living Life After Living for Football - Gary O'Donnell - PART A
Jan 24, 2023 Season 1 Episode 8
Darren Payne, David Nancarrow & Gary O'Donnell

This episode is the 3rd and last focusing on the hosts and it is an absolute beauty !!

Amongst many other things, Gary O'Donnell is an AFL legend of 243 games, Premiership player, Essendon Football Club Hall of Fame member and is greatly admired for his team first attitude and relentless desire to succeed.

Although Gary had a career that is the envy of all football lovers, it didn't come easy for him and had to work incredibly hard to get his opportunity and maintain his incredible consistency. He really was ahead of his time in terms of his professional approach to training in an era of the 1990's where the mantra was "train hard, play hard!"

Gary has had to learn how to transition into different things throughout his football career from a player to a leader, a player to a coach and now from being in the AFL system after 30 years of doing so to not working in the football industry at all.  This has been an interesting time in Gary's life to say the least trying to find that 'next thing' that get's him excited each day to work where he is drawing on the skills he learnt as an AFL player and Coach to help him get there.

It is difficult to have a podcast on Gary without just focusing on Football as it has been his life. But as you will hear, there is so much more to Gary especially now at this stage of his life.

It's a great listen and we just love having him as a co-host of the podcast and hope you enjoy his story and get to know him a little bit better. Enjoy !

PS - Thanks to Julie Richardson for her cameo introduction and outro
